Collective Soul – I Don’t Need Anymore Friends

Not gonna lie, I was pretty lazy with this cover. I have a lot going on with work & home projects but it’s been a while since I put something out. I didn’t do too much with video editing and the mix is just ok. It’s an easy, boring song on the drums but the cool part is that we are actually covering this song and you can hear a rough mix of it right here.  The drum kit preset is very basic, my standard Red Gear preset.

On vocals is a subscriber of my channel and I asked him if he’d be interested in collaborating; he said he isn’t much of a singer and would give it a shot. You sure in the hell could of fooled me -he sounded amazing! I feel bad we don’t have the song fully mixed yet however where it stands now still sounds great!

Quietdrive – Time After Time

We got another “revisited” drum cover for you today, this time it’s Quiet Drive with their cover of the Cyndi Lauper song ‘Time After Time’. I thought they did a fantastic version and it’s one of my favorite songs to play. Simple beat but it suits the song very well.

I originally did this song in April of 2008 on my old Roland TD-7 kit and the drum cover was not very good. So I am making it right and doing it the proper way…maybe in 12 years I’ll redo it again. You can check out the old video here: https://youtu.be/H___SvdFC4Q

Bullet For My Valentine – No Easy Way Out

This video was supposed to be released on July 24, 2020, but shit happens. 4 years ago “almost” to the day (July 24, 2016) I covered the song “No Easy Way Out” by Bullet For My Valentine, who in turn covered it from Robert Tepper and the iconic soundtrack to Rocky IV. One month prior, I purchased my Roland TD-30 kit and I was super excited at what it could potentially do down the road. In my haste I just threw the original video out there without any real concern. If you want to check out that older video, here it is: https://youtu.be/Sg1mnkPeQao

Well fast forward to today, or a month ago when I decided I wanted to fix my version of the cover and give it the justice it deserves! Well here it is. Pretty happy with the performance, not so happy with the video quality, but meh..

Not too many changes with the kit from my normal preset, only layered a 2nd cymbal to crash #3 for a great riding crash.  Then some typical eq/mix related changes.

Ghost – Stand By Him

This sure was a fun song to cover (requested by @XdarknessTV), I even tweaked my normal kit preset to give that old rustic sound the original drums had on it. How could I say no to the song that basically started Ghost as a band?

(excerpt from their WiKi) ” Tobias Forge said that it was the song “Stand by Him” that heralded the start of the band: “while being together in another band, Ghost started when I played a riff to everybody else. I said that this is probably the most heavy metal riff that has ever existed. Then I showed them the opening riff to ‘Stand by Him’.

Recorded in the middle of the COVID pandemic where I had a bunch of time to sit at home and noodle with different preset options but still came right back to my good old trusty preset in the end with minor alterations.

Ghost – Ritual

Yup still in quarantine and probably the fastest back to back drum cover release I have ever done! I am ready to shave, probably next weekend. Well I am back to covering some more Ghost songs , this time a classic, “Ritual”. Very fun song to play even with the speedy middle section. Enjoy it!

During the pandemic I was on a roll recording drum covers and why not, we were stuck inside.  Nothing crazy with the kit preset except I added a layered cymbal to crash #3.
